Philo Board of Directors: 2020/2021

Rita Harden

President

It is an honor to represent Philo this year as president. I am a long-time member of this wonderful organization. I have witnessed firsthand the energy and caring of its members to make lives better for people of our community. I was born and raised in Idaho and attended college in Kansas. I met my husband of 60 years in college. We both attended graduate school in Kansas City before moving to Loveland. I am now retired from a 34-year teaching career and have two grown daughters. My husband and I enjoy traveling in our small motor home, reading, church volunteer work and socializing with friends.

Mary Starck

Vice - President

I am proud to be serving and supporting the Philo organization as Vice President. My working background has been somewhat varied, and I enjoyed every minute, almost every minute. For 25 years I worked as an elementary librarian in the Thompson R2-J school district. During the summer of those years I worked for Boulder County Fair as assistant manager. Once retired from those positions I went to work for Larimer County at the Ranch serving as assistant to the director for 11 years. I am now happily retired for good. My husband of 55 years and I run 50+ crossbred cows and calves on an acreage outside of Loveland. Luckily our children, grandchildren and great grandson live close to us here in Colorado.

Carol Watt

Secretary

Shortly after moving here from Connecticut, I was fortunate to discover Philo. I have a BA Degree from Denison University, and certification from a Boston Secretarial School. I worked many years as a legal secretary and have been private secretary to such notables as Aristotle Onassis. I also worked for the Pres. & CFO of a huge NY advertising conglomerate, managed operations for Chicago Title Insurance Company in NY & CT for 17 years and was a Director for Business Network International. But my dream was to live in CO, so after my husband of 40 years passed away, I headed for the mountains. Through my Norwegian Elkhound dogs, I made many friends, but also got immediately involved with the Loveland Mountain Club, and became an avid volunteer with Hearts & Horses, Loveland's equine therapeutic center. I like giving back and connecting with new friends. I'm honored to be involved with the committed and amazing women of Philo and feel like I'm now living in Utopia!

Peg Isakson

Treasurer

I’m honored to support the Philo organization in the role of Treasurer. My background includes that of teaching and tutoring ages 4-50 in public schools and colleges. I have degrees in Literacy, Education Administration and Staff Development from the University of Colorado. Many years of my career were spent in Board positions for the Colorado Council of International Reading Association and in training teachers via multi-state travels for Scholastic, Inc. My living companion is a Norwegian Forest cat, and we get to connect with my two sons, their families and dogs, and two grandchildren. The thread of my life is to work with friends and colleagues in a common purpose of helping others learn and grow.

Florence Doksansky

Corresponding Secretary

I have been a Philo member for about 10 years ever since moving from Rhode Island to Colorado with my husband, Alan. We followed our only child, Sarah, who had married a Denver native, and have been loving Colorado and Loveland ever since. I am a retired academic librarian, having worked at MIT for 11 years and Brown University for 28 in many administrative capacities. I have always participated in community and professional activities. Since retiring I have been involved in service and therapy dog training. My Philo experience has been on Philo's Blood Drive, Scholarship, Early Childhood committees and is currently chair of the Sunshine Committee. I’m excited for this next opportunity to serve Philo and the Loveland community.

Past President

I have been in Philo for 15 years and just earned honorary status. I have served as chair and co-chair of several different committees within Philo over the years and have had the privilege of serving on the Philo Board as Treasurer, Vice President, President and now Past President. I am married with two children, a 14-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter. They keep us busy with all their activities! I love to travel, especially to the beach, and also enjoy relaxing and spending time with friends and family when we do have down time.
