Food Drive & Holiday Food Baskets

…an Enduring Tradition.
Since Philo’s inception in 1918, the organization has provided holiday food baskets for local families in
need. Currently, members coordinate a canned food drive within Thompson School District, partnering
directly with local schools to collect food. All food stays in the Loveland/Berthoud community in our
partnership with House of Neighborly Service, which distributes the food.

Canned Food Drive
-
Philo coordinates the collection of canned food at local schools.
-
During the month of November, participating schools collect non-perishable food, personal hygiene, and baby items.
-
With the help of Exodus Moving company, Philo collects the food in early December and delivers
it to House of Neighborly Service’s Food Pantry. -
Philo also donates grocery store gift cards for families to purchase perishable food.
-
Our membership also donates toys to House of Neighborly Service’s Christmas Store, so parents are able to select a toy for their children.
